Just like the Founder and Senior Creative Director of A Cut Above Group of Salons & Academy, Winnie Loo’s prowess in hair industry as a successful hairstylist and a leading women entrepreneur of high end posh salons as well as education has empowered her to achieve a multitude of milestones that many can only envy.

Winner of the 2003 Malaysian International Fashion Awards (MIFA)’s Best Hairstylist Award, Winnie Loo has been in the hairdressing and hairstyling industry since early 1979. A long period of career excellence spanning more than 2 decades and more than 27 years, Winnie Loo is the Founder and Creative Director of A Cut Above Salons and A Cut Above Academy. She is by far the most veteran of all in Malaysia, hailing from her early years in London.

She is the 1st Malaysian hairstylist who had won the prestigious World Master of Craft when she was conferred the title in year 1997, in New York. Her prestigious award made one of the most notable names and authority in the hairstyling industry of this region. Back home in Malaysia, she is the veteran and pioneer of the local fashion, hairstyling and lifestyle industry, namely one of the most respectable figure both in her profession and her annual charitable affairs. She was awarded the Best Hairstylist of the Year award at the Malaysian-International Fashion Awards (MIFA) in 2003, further establishing her stance as the authority in the hairdressing and hairstyling industry. A prominent figure as she is, she is the Creative Ambassador of Schwarzkopf, appointed since year 2001 to date.

Winnie has been busy with her own works at the salons, the academy, the fashion and lifestyle industry for the past 27 years of her career. Of late, she had become established with works beyond the salons or academy and became a regular guests and visitor at both international and regional events on exclusive invitations. She make regular trips to countries like UK, India, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore on her tour to promote the craft of hairstyling and to share her success stories with aspiring young hairstylists.

Her passion to visions, and her generosity to share as well as her dedication to excellence had not once but numerously garnered her awards after awards time and again for her tireless contribution in making hairstyling industry a promising and challenging profession. To her, sharing knowledge, encourage innovation and creativity within the profession becomes a platform to reach out to people who seeks to understand more about her craft, her creativity and her professionalism. Her recent biography “A Cut Above, Based on True Grit, Hardwork and A Pair of Scissors” encompassed the entire history of her success in the making and had since made quite an impact in the lives of those who believe in her name and her capabilities. Her success stories serves as the motivational guide for those who aspire to be successful, and for those who are not afraid to dream.
