It all began with a humble 428 sq feet salon established in early 1979 in Wisma HLA (formerly known as Wisma MPI) by the husband & wife team, Ms. Winnie Loo & Mr. Richard Teo, at a time when Malaysian hairdressing industry was still in its early infancy. But with Winnie and Richard's deep passion and strong commitment, A Cut Above had progressed steadily to the road of success over the years, as Malaysian were gradually educated and changed their mindset about the concept of total hair care, hairstyling and image grooming.

Today, A Cut Above has grown to be Malaysia's most established and premier group of salons in the country with 5 outlets namely in Bangsar BSC, Bangsar Village II, Mid Valley Megamall, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre and Parkson @ Pavillion Shopping Centre, as as well an established world-class standard Academy and Studio also located in the precinct of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre
