A Cut Above, founded by Winnie Loo, had its humble beginning in 1979 with its first salon measuring only 428 sq ft with 10 seats in the heart of Kuala Lumpur golden triangle. Since then, it has grown from strength to strength.

Today, A Cut Above is the most talked about group of salons in the city - with a posh 5000 sq ft outlet in Bangsar Shopping Centre which opens door officially in October 2009 and , a trendy yet glamourous salon in Bangsar Village, a 4000 sq ft top to toe centre mega salon in Mid Valley Megamall City, a 5000sq. ft. studio salon and academy in Sunway Pyramid, a newly opened 3000sq ft salon at Sunway’s new wing, and a new concept Kerastase (Loreal) spa salon in Parkson at Pavilion - joining the ranks of 45 countries in the world for such a concept and personalised salon.

X-Cut’s motto is “15 minutes Cut and Style for RM16” Customers need not make any appointments and can have their express hair cut & styled in 15 minutes for just RM16. All hairstylists are experienced and trained by A Cut Above team and the customers can be assured of the same professional advice and techniques in hair styling.

A Cut Above Academy is the most happening Academy in town. It was awarded the best training centre by world renowned education body, City and Guilds of London from 2006 to 2008, for 3 consecutive years.  The Academy students are not only nurtured with the best and most professional hairdressing skills by the region’s most established hairstyling experts and experienced educators; but also have direct access and hands on experience to the most state of the art facilities recognized by international standards.
